Loratadine and Pseudoephedrine are combined in this medicine.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine helps to temporarily relieve symptoms of cold and allergies, such as stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose or throat, and watery eyes.
Take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take this medicine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine is available as an extended-release tablet (usually labelled as “ER”), swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not divide, chew, dissolve or crush the tablet.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- high blood pressure
- heart disease
- overactive thyroid
- trouble urinating
- history of swallowing problem
- stomach problem
- problem in the oesophagus
as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
Do not take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine if you are currently taking or have taken a medicine used to treat depression known as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine in the last 14 days.
Inform your doctor if you have the following:
- diabetes
- other thyroid diseases
- stomach ulcer
- bladder problems
- enlarged prostate gland
- liver disease
- kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine to a child or an elderly. Children and elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.
If you are going to have a laboratory test (e.g. skin testing, urine test for amphetamines), inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.
Other side effects include any of the following: difficulty sleeping, nervousness, headache, irritability, dry mouth, stomach discomfort, loss of appetite, and indigestion.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Do not take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine if you are currently taking or have taken a medicine used to treat depression known as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine in the last 14 days.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- medicines for high blood pressure e.g. methyldopa, reserpine
- digoxin (medicine for heart disease)
- ketoconazole (medicine to treat fungal infection)
- certain antibiotics e.g. erythromycin
- cimetidine (medicine that reduces stomach acid production)
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
